Look at the top edge of the collar and there's a narrow ruffle knit right into the rib, the finish sometimes called a lettuce edge. The same treatment repeats at both cuffs. The ribbing on the sleeve runs the full length from the shoulder seam down, giving the arm a vertical line while the body stays completely smooth. The band across the hem is knit tighter and deeper than the rest. Small choices, and they're the reason this doesn't read as a plain sweater.
